Materials

  • Medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn: 3 oz /150 yds/85g off-white 11/2 oz/75 yds/43g each A, B and C
  • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge

Rnd 1 = 2 1/4 inches

Pattern Notes

  • Chain-4 at beginning of round counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated.
  • Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
  • Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.”

Cluster (cl): Keeping last lp of each tr on hook, 4 tr in indicated st, yo, draw through all 5 lps on hook.

Pot Holder
Front

  • Rnd 1 (RS): With A, ch 4, join (see Pattern Notes) in 4th ch from hook to form ring, ch 4 (see Pattern Notes), 23 tr in ring, join in 4th ch of beg ch-4. Fasten off. (24 tr)
  • Rnd 2: Join B with sc in same ch as joining, (sc, ch 10, sc) in each of next 3 tr, *sc in next tr, (sc, ch 10, sc) in each of next 3 tr, rep from * around, join in joining sc. Fasten off. (18 ch-10 sps)
  • Rnd 3: Join A with sc in any 3 ch-10 sps at same time, *†ch 5, fpsc (see Stitch Guide) around next tr on rnd 1, ch 5†, sc in next 3 lps at same time, rep from * 4 times, rep between † once, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
  • Rnd 4: Join C with sc in any sc, *†ch 4, cl (see Special Stitch) in next unworked sc on rnd 2, ch 4†, sc in next sc on previous rnd, rep from * 4 times more, then rep from † to † once, join in joining sc. Fasten off.
  • Rnd 5: Join off-white in any ch-4 sp, (see Pattern Notes), 4 dc in same sp, 5 dc in each rem sp, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (60 dc)
  • Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, *dc in sp between last dc of 5-dc group and first dc of next 5-dc group, dc in each of next 5 dc, rep from * 10 times, dc in sp between last dc of 5-dc group and first dc of next 5-dc group, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Back

  • Rnd 1: With off-white, ch 4, join in 4th ch from hook to form ring, ch 4, 23 tr in ring, join in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (24 tr)
  • Rnd 2: Ch 4, tr in same ch as joining, 2 tr in each tr, join in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (48 tr)
  • Rnd 3: Ch 4, tr in same ch as joining and in next tr, *2 tr in next tr, tr in next tr, rep from * around, join in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (72 tr)
  • Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in each tr, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

  • Hold front and back with wrong sides together, carefully matching sts, working through both pieces at same time, join B in any dc worked between 5-dc groups on front and corresponding dc on back.
  • Rnd 1: Ch 12 (hanging loop), sc in each dc around, join in first ch of beg ch-12.
  • Rnd 2: 18 sc in hanging loop, *sc in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc, rep from * around, working in front of hanging loop, ch 3, join in first sc after loop. Fasten off.
  • Rnd 3: With one strand of A and C held together, join in any ch-3 sp, *ch 3, remove hook, insert hook in next ch-3 sp, draw dropped lp through, rep from * around, join in joining sl st.
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends.
