Summer is winding down and soon the first crisp fall mornings will greet us each day! I love fall with its brilliant, sunlit colors that take on a golden hue. I love hearing the leaves crunch underfoot. And I love making my favorite fall recipes, especially apple crisp!
And of course, fall is the perfect time to take out your crochet hook and make something cozy and warm for yourself or a loved one. If summer had you away from your crochet, I hope this sneak peek of the October issue will have you crocheting again!
The Hooded Sweater Vest featured on the cover was designed by Lena Skvagerson, Annie’s Signature Collection exclusive designer, after many requests from readers for a pullover vest pattern. Sized for the whole family; children age 4 through adults including men, this vest works up quickly in worsted weight yarn.
There are four beautiful afghans in this issue, including one crocheted totally from scraps, a pretty Tunisian shell stitch design, and two motif afghans including this gorgeous Autumn Popcorn Throw.
We’ve included several pretty fashion accessories including two hats, three fun cowl designs, a pretty shawl in worsted weight yarn and this easy-to-make scarf which is crocheted with a large hook and bulky yarn from our Big Hook Crochet chapter.
You’ll find tons of ways to use the Big Hook Basket from the same chapter too!
I love these cute Jack-o’-Lantern Coasters! They would be fun to make for a Halloween party. Send each guest home with a coaster to remember the event.
And the Fall Colors Rug is on my list to make, too. This practical rug would be useful in any room of the house. Make it in fall colors as shown or a color palette to match your decor. Either way, you’ll get this project done in no time with three strands of worsted weight yarn held together using an M hook!
