The Granny: It’s More Than Just a Square, Part 5

This week’s granny motif is the pentagon. This interesting 5-sided shape can be useful in a variety of projects. It can make a great fill-in piece to create a unique border on a project with an edge that has large, triangular points. One point of the pentagon motif could fit nicely into the space between two large triangles on the project edge.

If joining pentagon motifs at only one side point to create a strip, a triangle-shape motif can often be used to fill in the spaces between them (another great use for the triangle granny motifs we previously featured!). Pentagon motifs as stand-alone pieces are great for making unique-style dishcloths, pot holders, table mats, coasters — almost anything you like.
