Black Hats And Worry Dolls Are in Short Supply: How You Can Help!

 Hello everyone! Tara here—

With everything going on in the world, it isn’t surprising that some products are in short supply, but hearing that black yarn is in short supply is a little surprising.

Black yarn is much harder to work with than any other color of yarn, so it’s a color that a lot of stitchers refuse to work with or will only work with if they have to.

That said, some stitchers, like myself, love to work with black yarn because it’s so easy to wear, goes with everything, and you don’t have to worry about finished projects staining.

Plus, anyone can wear it.

And that’s the exact reason it’s in such high demand right now.

Companies are being asked to donate black yarn for the people in Israel that have been impacted by war and uncertainty.

But there’s something you can do to help too.

Like the #HatNotHate program, which stood against bullying and called for people to donate blue hats to children that needed them, there’s a new call that’s looking for people to knit black hats and crochet worry dolls and donate them to help those in need in Israel.

The crochet doll pattern being requested is the Guatemalan Worry Doll by Lala Crochet Boutique, which can be found HERE.

The hats are knitted watch caps and you can receive the pattern from the participating companies.

One company, Tablet Magazine, is encouraging people to send their hat and doll donations to them to avoid the high shipping charge of sending things to another country, and to prevent people from having to worry about sending items through customs.

Their first shipment of donations is being sent out December first, with more shipments following.

You can send finished donations to:

If you want more information on how you can help, you can check out the Knitted Hugs website, which you can find HERE, or you can reach out to one of the participating companies below.

Happy stitching!
