Materials
- Medium (worsted) weight yarn:
- 8 oz/400 yds/227g each black and gray
- 8 oz/400 yds/227g assorted colors
- Size K/10 1/2/6.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. The size options are K, 10 1/2, and 6.5mm.
- Tapestry needle
- Fiberfill
Gauge
5 dc = 2 inches;
2 dc rnds = 2 inches;
5 sc rnds = 2 inches
Pattern Notes
Work with 1 strand each black, gray and scrap color held together throughout.
To change color, pull new color through on last loop of last stitch worked in current color.
Instructions
Pet Bed
Tube
Rnd 1: Holding 3 strands tog, ch 25, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (25 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Rnds 3-52: Rep rnd 2, changing colors (see Pattern Notes) of scrap yarn every 4 rnds.
Row 53: Fold Tube flat across, working through both thicknesses, sl st across. Fasten off.
Stuff Tube lightly with fiberfill and sew opposite end closed. Sew ends tog to form circle.
Base
Rnd 1: Holding 3 strands of yarn tog, ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in beg sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 3: Rep rnd 2. (27 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (40 sc)
Rnds 5-7: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with sl st in beg sc.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (48 sc)
Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in each of first 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (54 sc)
Row 10: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 8 sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (61 sc)
Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 5 sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (71 sc)
Rnd 12: Rep rnd 5.
Rnd 13: Rep rnd 11. (81 sc)
Rnd 14: Rep rnd 5.

Rnd 16: Rep rnd 5. Fasten off.With 2 strands of yarn, easing to fit, sew beg ch-3 sts around bottom of Tube to rnd 16 of Base.
