Stitched with pretty pompadour yarn and accented with shiny pearl buttons, this lovely dress and hat will make your fashion doll the belle of the ball!
For those just getting started in this challenging type of crochet, the use of fingering yarn is a good jumping-off point, which will ease you into crocheting with size 10 or finer thread.

- 10 (8mm) pearl beads
- 2 size 4/0 snap fasteners
- Fingering weight yarn: 2 ounces blue pompadour, 1 ounce white pompadour
- Sizes D/3 and F/5 crochet hooks or sizes needed to obtain gauge
- Sewing needle and thread
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
With D hook, 7 sc = 1 inch; 7 sc rows = 1 inch
With F hook, 5 dc = 1 inch; 2 dc rnds = 1 inch
Check gauge to save time.
Pattern Note
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, dc in each of next 5 sc, hdc in next sc, 22 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 7 sc, turn. (25 sts)

Rnd 18: Sl st into ch-1 sp of V-st, ch 1, sc in same ch-1 sp, 5 dc in next ch-1 sp of V-st, [sc in next ch-1 sp, 5 dc in next ch-1 sp of V-st] rep around, join in beg sc, fasten off. (20 scallops; 20 sc)
Underskirt
Row 1: With crochet hook size F, working in rem free lps of Row 10 at waistline, attach white, ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch-3, 2 dc in each rem st across, turn. (42 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnds 3 & 4: Rep Rnd 2.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, [dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 1] rep around, join in top of beg ch-3
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each dc and each ch-1 sp around, join in top of beg ch-3. (56 dc)
Rnds 7 & 8: Rep Rnd 2.
Rnd 9: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 1, [dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 1] rep around, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 10: Rep Rnd 6. (70 dc)
Rnds 11–14: Rep Rnd 2.
Rnd 15: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 1, [dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 1] rep around, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 16: Ch 3, dc in each dc and 2 dc in each ch-1 sp around, join in top of beg ch-3. (98 dc)
Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in first dc, ch 3, sk next dc, [sc in next dc, ch 3, sk next dc] rep around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
Flowers (make 10)
Rnd 1: With crochet hook size D and white, ch 5, sl st to join to form a ring, ch 1, [sc, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1, sc in ring] 5 times, join in beg sc, leaving a length of yarn, fasten off.
Finishing
Sew a pearl bead in the center of each flower. Sew flowers evenly sp around over Rnd 16 of skirt.
Sew a snap fastener at each back waistline and at top back bodice.
Hat
Rnd 1: With crochet hook size D and blue, ch 3, 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join in top of first dc. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] rep around, join in top of beg ch-3. (18 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each dc around, join in beg sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 5: Working in front lps for this rnd only, beg V-st in first st, dc in next st, [V-st in next st, dc in next st] rep around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (9 V-sts)
Rnd 6: Sl st into ch-1 sp, beg V-st in same ch-1 sp, V-st in next single dc between V-sts, [V-st in next ch-1 sp of V-st, V-st in next single dc between V-sts] rep around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (18 V-sts)
Rnd 7: Sl st in ch-1 sp, ch 1, [sc, ch 3, dc] in same ch-1 sp, [{sc, ch 3, dc} in next ch-1 sp of V-st] rep around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
