Shawl switches between A and B for each triangle. There is a total of 81 motifs, 36 motifs with rnds 1-4 crocheted with B and rnds 5 and 6 crocheted with A and 45 motifs with rnds 1-4 crocheted with A and rnds 5 and 6 crocheted with B.
Rnd 1: With A, ch 6, join in first ch to form a ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join in beg sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 10 (counts as first dc, ch-7), *sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch 3**, sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch 7, rep from * around, ending last rep at ** , join in 3rd ch of beg ch-10. (3 ch-7 sps, 3 ch-3 sps)
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in next ch sp, *ch 6, 4 dc in same ch sp, 3 dc in next ch sp**, 4 dc in next ch sp, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 4: Sl st in next dc, ch 6 (counts as first dc, ch-3), *(4 dc, ch 5, 4 dc) in next ch sp, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3**, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off.
Rnd 5: Join B to any unused sc of rnd 1, ch 1, sc in same sc as beg ch-1, ch 3, [sc in next sc of rnd 1, ch 3] around, join in beg sc. (6 ch-3 sps)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-3 sp around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
Rnds 1-3: With B, rep rnds 1-3 of First Motif.
Rnd 4: Sl st into next dc, ch 6, *4 dc in next ch sp, ch 2, sl st in corresponding ch-5 sp of previous motif, ch 2, 4 dc in same ch sp, ch 1, sl st in corresponding ch-3 sp of previous motif, ch 1, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sl st in corresponding ch-3 sp of previous motif, ch 1, rep from * to join to adjacent motifs, otherwise work the same as rnd 4 for First Motif, fasten off.
Rnds 5 & 6: Join A, rep rnds 5 and 6 of First Motif.
Rep as for 2nd Motif alternating A and B as indicated in Motif Assembly Diagram (Fig. 1).
Row 1: Join B to left side of top corner of Shawl, ch 7, sc in same ch sp, *[ch 7, sc in next ch sp] 4 times, ch 7, sc in the joining of the chs of next 2 Motifs, rep from * to point of Shawl, ch 7, sc in same ch sp, rep from * to next corner, ending with ch 7, sc in same ch sp, turn.
Row 2: [Ch 7, sc in next ch sp] across to bottom point, ch 7, sc in same ch sp, [ch 7, sc in next ch sp] across to next point, fasten off.
Row 3: Join A in first ch sp of previous row, ch 7, sc in same ch sp, [ch 7, sc in next ch sp] across to bottom point, ch 7, sc in same ch sp, [ch 7, sc in next ch sp] across to next point, turn.
Row 4: Rep row 2.
Row 5: Join B, rep row 3.
Row 6: Rep row 2.
Cut two 12-inch strands of both A and B. Hold strands tog, fold in half, insert hook in ch sp of row 6, draw strands through at fold to form a lp on hook, draw cut ends through lp on hook, pull gently to secure.
