Many of you may have seen the parable that made its way around Facebook on Dec. 31 about the donkey that fell down a well. The farmer who found him thought he was too old and not worth saving, so he started to shovel dirt on top of him to fill in the hole as he covered the donkey. As the dirt began to build up, the donkey shook it off and took a step upward. The more the farmer shoveled, the closer the donkey came to saving his own life by stepping on the dirt and out of the hole!
The moral of the story: "Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping-stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up."
Sometimes, as the New Year rolls around, we feel overwhelmed by all we didn't get done in the past year or overwhelmed by all we want to accomplish in the coming year. If this is the case for you, just remember to take out your crochet hook, and even if it is just for a half hour a day, think about taking classes at the Knit & Crochet Show and enjoy the free pattern we've brought to you.
