Size K/101/2/6.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle
1-inch diameter button
Sewing needle and matching thread

Gauge

3 pattern reps = 4 inches; 51/2 rows = 4 inches

Paris stitch (pst): In st or sp indicated work (2 dc, ch 2, sc).

Instructions

Capelet

Row 1 (RS): Ch 79, (dc, ch 2, sc) in 3rd ch from hook (beg 2 sk chs count as a dc), *sk next 2 chs, pst (see Special Stitch) in next ch; rep from * across, turn. (26 pst)

Row 2: Ch 3, (dc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-2 sp, pst in each ch-2 sp across, turn.

Rep row 2 until piece measures approximately 18 inches. Fasten off.

Edging

Hold piece with RS of row 1 at top, join yarn in first ch-2 sp on row 1, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, sc) in same ch, *sk next 2 chs, pst in next ch, rep from * across.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing

Sew button to top left corner. Use ch-2 sp at top right corner as buttonhole.
