Halloween Garland

With happy pumpkins, googly-eyed black cats and silent ghosts, this versatile little garland will add a festive touch to your Halloween party. Use it to dress up your door in whimsical style to delight trick-or-treaters of all ages!

Materials
- Medium (worsted) weight yarn:
- 1 oz/50 yds/28g each black, orange, white and green
- Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle
- Hot-glue gun
- 11mm round wiggle eyes: 3 pairs
- 10 x 15mm oval wiggle eyes: 4 pairs
- 8mm half round black beads: 6
- 4-inch square black felt
Gauge
7 sc = 2 inches; 7 sc rows = 2 inches
Instructions
Garland
Row 1: With black, ch 220, sc in 11th ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch 10, sl st in last sc. Fasten off. (210 sc, 2 ch-10 sps)
Row 2: Working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, sk first ch-10 sp, join orange with sc in next ch, sc in each ch across, leaving last ch-10 sp unworked. Fasten off.
Pumpkin
Make 4.
Rnd 1: With orange, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st in beg sc. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join with sl st in beg sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off. (30 sc)
Row 6: Now working in rows, for stem, join green with sc in first sc of previous rnd, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 3 chs, sl st in same sc as joining sc. Fasten off.
Finishing
Glue 2 oval wiggle eyes 3/8 inch apart over rnds 2 and 3.
From black felt for nose, cut 3/8 x 1/2-inch-wide triangle. Glue to center of rnd 1.
For mouth, cut a 1/4 x 1 3/8-inch-wide curved piece from black felt as shown in photo. Glue centered below nose.
Cat
Make 3.
Body
Rnds 1-4: With black, rep rnds 1-4 of Pumpkin. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: For tail, ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch across, sl st in next sc of rnd 4. Fasten off.
Head
Rnds 1-3: With black, rep rnds 1-3 of Pumpkin. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook (first ear), sl st in each of next 4 sts, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook (2nd ear), sl st in next st, leave rem sts unworked. Fasten off.
Sew Head over top of rnd 4 on Body as shown in photo.
Finishing
Glue 2 round wiggle eyes over top of rnd 2 on Head 1/8 inch apart.
For whiskers, tie a 3-inch piece of white into knot around center of rnd 1 on Head. Separate plies of yarn, trim whiskers to 3/4 inch.
Ghost
Make 3.
Head
Rnds 1-3: With white, rep rnds 1-3 of Pumpkin. (18 sc)
Body
Row 4: Now working in rows, ch 1, sc in each of next 6 sc, leaving rem sts unworked, turn. (6 sc)
Rows 5 & 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn. (10 sc)
Rows 7-12: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Row 13: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [ch 2, sc in next sc] across. Fasten off.
Glue half round beads to top of rnds 1 and 2 on Head 1/8 inch apart.
Ties
For each Pumpkin, cut 1 strand of black 6 inches long.
For each Cat, cut 1 strand of green 6 inches long.
For each Ghost, cut 1 strand of orange 6 inches long.
Draw each Tie through center top of each piece.
Sk first 6 sts on row 2 of Garland, [attach 1 Pumpkin to next st of Garland, tie ends in a bow, sk next 21 sts, attach 1 Ghost to next st of Garland, tie ends in a bow, sk next 21 sts, attach 1 Cat to next st of Garland, tie ends in a bow, sk next 21 sts] 3 times, attach 1 Pumpkin to next st of Garland, leaving last 5 sts unworked.
