Aran Clarification
Mandy writes: "I noticed what was probably a simple mistake in the Cable Crochet article in the last issue. The Isle of Aran is part of Scotland, and isn't off the west coast of Ireland. Please understand that, as a Scot who learned to knit and crochet from my Scottish granny, I am proud of my heritage. I'm not being critical and appreciate the historical articles in Talking Crochet newsletter; it's all part of keeping this craft alive and inspiring."
Editor's Comments
Dear Mandy,
It is indeed a privilege to know that my newsletter is being read by someone as far away as Scotland. I appreciate your bringing this to my attention. I double-checked my facts and found that, yes, Scotland has an island that is spelled Arran. In my article, I was referring to the Aran Islands, which are located in Galway Bay off the west coast of Ireland.
