What Is WPI?

Janis writes: "I have a pattern for a jacket made in a specific brand of bulky weight yarn. There is a notation in the instructions stating that if substituting a different bulky yarn for the yarn used in the pattern, make sure that the 'wpi' is the same as that of the pattern yarn. I have never seen this term. Can you explain?"  Read more »
