- Blossom mat: about 7 inches in diameter
Materials
For Star mat:- Medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn: 40 yds each blue and peach
- Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn: 40 yds each blue and cream
- Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn: 50 yds peach, 10 yds each white and yellow
- Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
Gauge is not important for this project.
Pattern Stitch
Long single crochet (long sc): Working over sts of previous rows, insert hook in sp indicated on 2 rows below and draw up lp to level of working row; yo and draw through 2 lps on hook.
Instructions
Blossom Mat
- With yellow, ch 5; join to form a ring.
- Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join in first sc.
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, in same sc work (sc, ch 3, sc); *5 dc in next sc; in next sc work (sc, ch 3, sc); rep from * twice more; 5 dc in next sc; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 3: Join white in any ch-3 sp; ch 1, sc in same sp; *2 dc in each of next 2 dc; 3 dc in next dc; 2 dc in each of next 2 dc; sc in next ch-3 sp; rep from * 3 times more; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 4: Join peach in any dc to left of any sc; ch 1, sc in same dc; working in back lps only, sc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; 3 dc in next st; 2 dc in next st; sc in next 4 sts, sk next sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 dc in next st; 3 dc in next st; 2 dc in next st; sc in next 4 sts; rep from * twice more; join in first sc.
- Rnd 5: Ch 1; *sc in next 3 sc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc; dc in next st, sc in next 3 sc, sk next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times more; join in first sc.
- Rnd 6: Ch 1; *sc in same st and in next 8 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts; sc in next 9 sts, sk next 2 sc; rep from * 3 times more; join in first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Star Mat
- With blue, ch 5; join to form a ring.
- Note: Mat is worked in continuous rnds. Do not join; mark beg of rnds.
- Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Change to peach by drawing lp through; cut blue. (12 sc)
- Note: Remainder of mat is worked in back lps only.
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, *5 sc in next sc; ch 1, sk next sc; rep from * 5 times more. (30 sc)
- Rnd 3: Sk next sc, *sc in next sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next sc, sk next sc, next ch-1 sp and next sc; rep from * 4 times more; sc in next sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next sc.
- Rnd 4: Sk last st of rnd 2 and first sc of rnd 3; *sc in next 2 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 2 sc, sk next 2 sc; rep from * 4 times more; sc in next 2 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 2 sc. (45 sc)
- Rnd 5: Sk last sc of rnd 3 and first sc of rnd 4; *sc in next 3 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 3 sc, sk next 2 sc; rep from * 4 times more; sc in next 3 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 3 sc, changing to blue in last sc; cut peach. (55 sc)
- Rnd 6: Sk next 2 sc; *sc in next 4 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 4 sc, sk next sc, long sc (see Pattern Stitch) between next 2 sc on rnd 3, sk next sc; rep from * 4 times more; sc in next 4 sc, 5 sc in next sc; sc in next 4 sc, sk next sc, long sc between next 2 sc on rnd 3; join in first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Pinwheel Mat
- With blue and leaving a 4-inch end, ch 4.
- Rnd 1 (RS): 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (beg 3 skipped chs count as a dc); join in 3rd ch of beg 3 skipped chs. Fasten off. Pull yarn end to close center and secure.
- Rnd 2: Join cream in sp between any 2 dc; ch 1, 2 sc in same sp; ch 1; *2 sc in sp between next 2 dc; ch 1; rep from * 10 times more; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 3: Join blue in any ch-1 sp; ch 1, 2 sc in same sp; ch 1; * 2 sc in next ch-1 sp; ch 1; rep from * 10 times more; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 4: With cream, rep rnd 3.
- Rnd 5: Rep rnd 3.
- Rnd 6: Join cream in any ch-1 sp; ch 1, 3 sc in same sp; ch 2; *3 sc in next ch-1 sp; ch 2; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 7: Join blue in any ch-2 sp; ch 1, 3 sc in same sp; ch 2; *3 sc in next ch-2 sp; ch 2; join in first sc. Fasten off.
- Rnd 8: Join cream in any ch-2 sp; ch 1, in same sp work (2 sc, ch 3, sl st in first ch, 2 sc); ch 2; *in next ch-2 sp work (2 sc, ch 3, sl st in first ch, 2 sc); ch 2; rep from * 10 times more; join in first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
